After experimenting with many different artistic media, I chose contemporary puppetry. in making this choice, I didn't need to choose really. Puppet theater encompasses so many things: theater, movement, sculpture, fashion, crafts, music, lighting, digital arts, etc. As a puppeteer, I relish the challenge of gracefully wearing many hats. Puppet theater can be interactive, site-specific, entertaining, nostalgic, for children or adults, ancient and contemporary simultaneously, sophisticated, and funny. Most importantly, it is always poetic. Puppets can tackle subjects that are often difficult for humans to address, and with their fantastical nature, they have the unique ability to deeply inhabit our minds and whisper directly into the ears of our inner child.
